Custom business dashboards and reporting

No more Monday mornings building the same report.

Sales, jobs, cash, hours and service levels, pulled automatically from the systems they live in and put on one screen. Custom dashboards built and supported by JFI for businesses across BC, in Power BI or as a simple web app.

Why dashboards

The numbers exist. Getting to them is the problem.

Revenue is in QuickBooks, the pipeline is in the CRM, job status is in a spreadsheet and hours are in the timesheet app. Every week someone exports all four, pastes them together and hopes nothing shifted.

A custom dashboard does that work automatically. The figures you rely on refresh on their own, everyone sees the same version, and the time spent building the report goes back to acting on it.

What goes on the screen

Dashboards built around the decisions you actually make.

We start with the questions you ask every week, not with a chart library. A good dashboard fits on one screen.

  • 01

    Sales and pipeline

Quotes out, deals won, average job size and where leads come from, pulled from your CRM and accounting.

  • 02

    Jobs and projects

What’s booked, in progress, overdue or ready to invoice, with margin by job where the data allows.

  • 03

    Cash and receivables

What’s owed, by whom and for how long, so follow-ups happen before an invoice turns ninety days old.

  • 04

    People and hours

Billable hours, utilisation and overtime from your timesheet or payroll system.

  • 05

    Service and support

Open requests, response times and recurring problems, for businesses that run a service desk or field service.

  • 06

    Alerts and thresholds

Instead of watching the dashboard, get an email or Teams message when a number crosses a line you set.

Two ways to build it

Power BI, or a custom web dashboard.

Both pull from the same sources. The choice depends on who needs to see it and what you already pay for.

Microsoft

Power BI

A strong fit for businesses already on Microsoft 365, with internal staff as the audience.

  • Signs in with Microsoft 365 accounts
  • Drill-down and filtering built in
  • Lives in Teams or the browser
  • Licensing per viewer, depending on your plan
Custom

A web dashboard

Better when clients or field crews need a view, or when you want it inside an app we’ve built for you.

  • Works on any phone or browser
  • Shareable with clients through their own login
  • No per-viewer reporting licence
  • Built into your custom app if you have one

One source of truth

A dashboard is only as good as the data under it.

Most of the work on a dashboard isn’t the charts. It’s getting clean, consistent data out of each system: matching customer names, fixing job codes, and deciding which number counts as revenue. We do that clean-up first, and document how every figure is calculated.

Where the data is stuck in a spreadsheet, it often makes sense to replace that spreadsheet with an app or connect the systems first, so the dashboard has something reliable to read.

How a project runs

From your weekly report to a live dashboard.

Bring the report you build by hand today. In discovery we work out where each number comes from, who needs to see it and how often, and whether a setting in software you already own would do. Then you get a fixed price for the first version, agreed in writing; it doesn’t move unless the scope does.

We connect the sources, clean the data and build the first screen, checking every figure against the numbers you trust before launch. Scheduled email digests and exports for accounting can be added so nobody has to log in to stay informed.

At launch you get documentation of every source and calculation, and you own the reports, the data and the accounts they run on. JFI can keep it updated as your systems change; that’s optional. See how pricing works or our work.

After launch

You deal with JFI directly, before and after launch.

The company that scopes and builds your software is the one you call when it needs a change or something stops working. No sales handoff, no account manager in the middle, no support desk that has never seen the code.

  • 01

One point of contact, start to finish

The conversation that starts in discovery carries on through the build and after launch. You don’t re-explain your business to a project manager, then a developer, then a support desk.

  • 02

Support from the company that wrote the code

When something needs fixing or changing, it comes back to JFI, which built it and wrote the documentation, not to a third party learning your system on your time.

  • 03

    Changes as the business changes

New fields, a new report, another integration. Small changes and bigger next stages are scoped and agreed with you before work starts.

  • 04

Next to the rest of your IT

If JFI also looks after your IT, your software sits inside the same support: the same number to call and a first response the same business day.

Not locked in, either: you own the code, the data and the documentation. How JFI builds and supports custom software.

Common questions

Dashboards, the short answers.

01What is a custom business dashboard?
One screen showing the numbers you check every week, such as sales, jobs, cash owed and hours, pulled automatically from the systems they live in and refreshed on their own.
02Do we need Power BI?
Not necessarily. Power BI is a strong choice if you’re on Microsoft 365 and the audience is internal. A custom web dashboard can be better for clients, field crews, or when it belongs inside an app we’ve built.
03Which systems can a dashboard pull from?
Most accounting, CRM, job tracking, timesheet and Microsoft 365 tools, plus spreadsheets and databases. Discovery confirms exactly what each system allows.
04How often does the data update?
It depends on the source. Many dashboards refresh several times a day; some sources only allow a daily update. The proposal states the refresh schedule for each one.
05What does a dashboard cost?
It depends on how many sources it connects and how much clean-up the data needs. You get a fixed price for the first version before any work starts.
06Can we get the numbers by email instead?
Yes. Scheduled email digests and alerts when a number crosses a threshold are common additions, so nobody has to remember to log in.
Start with a scoping call

Send us the report you build by hand.

Which numbers you check, where they come from and who needs to see them is enough to start. We’ll come back the same business day with a time to talk, or book a free scoping call directly.
